Dental hygienists are health care professionals who detect, prevent and treat diseases of the mouth.

The dental hygienist works as a team member with dentists and dental assistants.

Dental hygienists are in great demand and the salaries are excellent.

Workplace Settings

Most dental hygienists work as clinicians in a dental practice, but there are many opportunities to work in other settings such as: administrator or manager, educator, researcher, consumer advocate, and public health.

Dental Hygienists may work in a variety of settings including:

  • Dental Supply Company
  • University or Research Center
  • Veterinary Dentistry

  • Long-term Health Care Facility
