Part of Women's History Month
Hearthside Lounge (Room 2313)
March 01, 2018
10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
10-11 a.m. Artist-in-residence Samina Ali's TEDTalk now has nearly two million views -- and her breakthrough novel Madras on Rainy Days was among the first novels published by a Muslim woman in America. Join her for a continuing discussion of the role of Muslim Women in America and worldwide.

12 noon-1 p.m. Our author in residence, Samina Ali is the world famous curator of the critically-acclaimed exhibition Muslima: Muslim Women's Art & Voices. Sponsored by the Global Fund for Women, this exhibition is a groundbreaking collection of thought pieces and artwork from contemporary Muslim women from around the world who are defining their own identities and, in the process, shattering pervasive stereotypes. Samina’s presentation will focus on both her work and the work of contemporary Muslim women artists in resistance to fundamentalism globally.
1:30-2:30 p.m. Join our artist-in-residence --celebrated novelist, activist, and curator Samina Ali-- for a continued lecture/discussion regarding the role of Muslim Women in America and worldwide.
