KCI Makerspace at Foothill

Find Your Creative Center in the KCI Makerspace

Housed in the Krause Center for Innovation, Building 4000, the KCI Makerspace is a prototyping lab, providing our community with the resources to design and make using a variety of computer-aided design and manufacturing and other tools.

KCI Makerspace at Foothill is open to Foothill and De Anza students, faculty and staff, Bay Area educators and the broader San Mateo and Santa Clara county community.

We provide not only the tools but the courses, certification, events and social support to get you making.

Technology at Your Fingertips

room with equipment

Our space is equipped with a wide range of professional-grade tools and machines, including:

  • 3D printers & resin printers
  • Laser cutters & vinyl cutters
  • CNC machines
  • Woodworking & power tools
  • Soldering & casting equipment
  • Sewing & embroidery machines
  • Jewelry-making tools

If you’re not sure where to start, we offer training on all equipment — no prior experience needed.

Once trained on our tools, visitors can use the shop’s machines, including laser cutters, 3D printers, sewing machines, vinyl cutters, soldering irons, hand and power tools, and much more.

Support from Idea to Execution

We’re here to support every step of your creative process:

  • Brainstorming and ideation
  • Equipment training and safety
  • Project planning and development
  • Iteration and troubleshooting

Students participating in Foothill programs, such as Research & Service Leadership Symposium and Innovation Challenge, have brought their projects to life in our space.

Faculty are also invited to collaborate with us — bring your class in for a tour, training session, or hands-on project work.
