Through a partnership with Year Up Bay Area (YUBA), Foothill College offers courses at its downtown San Jose and San Francisco locations serving both YUBA students and the Foothill general student population.

What is Year Up Bay Area?

Located in downtown San Jose and downtown San Francisco, Year Up Bay Area is a one-year intensive training program for low-income young adults seeking to succeed in a professional career and in higher education. Year Up is a national organization with sites throughout the United States.

The program includes six months of professional training in IT, financial operations, sales and customer support, business operations or software development. Students also receive a six-month corporate internship with a respected company, a weekly educational stipend and guidance and support from a staff advisor and professional mentor.

As part of the Year Up curriculum, Foothill College offers communication studies and business courses for college credit.  

Can Foothill College Students Apply to Year Up?

Yes! If you meet the criteria for the YUBA program you can submit an application. For more information go to www.yearup.org.

Do I have to be accepted to YUBA to take Foothill College classes? 

No, Foothill College courses are open to all students, based on the maximum seat count. Parking and textbooks are the responsibility of the student and are not paid by YUBA.

How do I get to the Year Up campuses in San Francisco and San Jose? 

Year Up San Jose is located at 100 W San Fernando St., Suite 103. It is conveniently located close to public parking (at 95 South Almaden). Students can also use their Clipper Card to access this site using public transportation.

Year Up San Francisco is located at 80 Sutter St. in downtown San Francisco, one block off Market St. and close to the Montgomery St. BART station.
