Community Education

Welcome to Foothill College Community Education

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  (updated 4/12/21)  Due to continued concerns about COVID-19,  Foothill College is suspending all in-person swim and gym classes for Spring and Summer quarters (4/5/21 - 9/17/21) until it's deemed safe.  We will be monitoring Fall quarter and a decision will be made as we get closer.

Here's an email from Simon Pennington, Interim AVP of Community Relations:

Dear Foothill Community Members,

I hope you and your family are safe and well.

Foothill College has been following State and County guidelines during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has consequently offered very few on-campus classes over the last year. Our focus has been on the safety and health of our students, faculty, staff, and community members and we are happy to report that we have not had any COVID-19 fatalities related to our on-campus classes.

As you will no doubt be aware, the nation-wide vaccination campaign is finally ramping up and vaccinations will soon be available to everyone over the age of 16. With this in mind, Foothill College will begin implementing its back-to-campus plan. We are bringing some faculty and staff back to campus this spring, with a limited number of classes returning in the summer and a few more returning in the fall. This will be a gradual return to normalcy. Our hope is that we’ll be closer to normal course offerings bringing back even more classes in winter 2022.

This gradual return will allow us to monitor health and safety protocols and maintain social distancing in our educational spaces and across the campus. Instructional programs will receive first priority in Phases I, II, and III of our plan. Due to the social distancing regulations, the time needed in classrooms and facilities space is double the time required pre-COVID. We will look to open up the campus for facility rentals and Community Education classes once the return of instructional programs is well underway.

We will be in touch on a regular basis to update you on our progress and thank you for your patience and understanding. We want to get everyone back in the pool and gym and on the track as soon as possible, but need to proceed with all due caution.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have specific questions about our return to campus planning. You can also go to our return-to-campus planning web page for our rationale and timeline (please note that this plan will no-doubt change as we actually begin to return).

Best wishes to you and your families.

Our main concern is your health and safety.  Please go to our main website at for any general updates on how Foothill College is handling the crisis.  Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe
