Stretch to Kindergarten Internship Opportunities

Volunteer as an intern at STK to help prepare children for kindergarten.

You'll receive community service for working/playing with four and five-year-olds from low-income families. These are children headed to kindergarten in the fall but, for the most part, haven't had the benefit of preschool.

The program is designed to give them and their families an experience that will help prepare them for kindergarten.

Interns work under the leadership of experienced classroom teachers and mentors.

Program Dates

JUNE 15 through JULY 22, 2016
MONDAY through FRIDAY

Interns are asked to select one three-week session:

• Session One: Monday, June 15 through Friday, July 1
• Session Two: Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 22
  (Note: Monday, July 4 is a holiday; no STK that day.)

LOCATIONS and HOURS

• Theuerkauf Elementary - MVWSD
  M-W-F 7:30 am to 2:30 pm
• Lakewood Elementary - SSD
  Morning (7:30 am to 11:30 am) or
  Afternoon (10:30 am to 2:30 pm)
• Bullis Charter School - LASD

Requirements

• Some knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not at all a requirement.
• The ONLY requirement is a desire to make a difference in the lives of young children.
