Please be informed that the TTW cohort for 2024-2025 has been selected.

Overview

TTW is our commitment to providing equal access and higher education options for people with disabilities, including people with developmental, intellectual, emotional and learning disabilities.

We believe that this access to higher education will provide students with academic, vocational, social and emotional skills that are important for their future success in achieving the life goals they choose.

What is the TTW Program at Foothill College?

The TTW program is a 12 month program designed for people with disabilities who can function independently on a college campus but may not currently have the ability to succeed in a traditional college classroom.

Are there specific requirements for students to be accepted into the TTW program?

We recognize that students may have diverse goals during this transitional phase. TTW students can: • Experience college life • Build communication and social skills

• Develop job-specific skills and gain on-campus job training

• Enroll in classes that promote independence

Interest in college and appropriate behavior for a campus setting are essential for admission and success. Students must be able and willing to participate in classroom tasks with support.

Next Steps After TTW

TTW gives students the plan, the tools, and the support to set an achievable goal in life. During the year, students develop their own path in coordination with instructors and their support team. From TTW, students often follow one of three paths:

➟ 2 or 4 Year College
TTW is a part of Foothill College, and many of our students can go on to independently take regular classes. If your eventual goal is an AA or beyond, we provide the scaffolding to make sure that first step is a strong one.

➟ Career
Whether the eventual goal is an apprenticeship into a trade, entry into a skilled career path, or an entry level permanent job, TTW provides the skills and the small-group development necessary for success in industry.

➟ Residential Program
Residential programs require a level of independence and self-sufficiency that is sometimes not yet achieved by the time a student has graduated from high school. TTW can work as a focused gap year between high school and a residential program.
