| I am a clinical psychologist with board certification in addiction psychology (ABPP),
                                 Bay Area native, and have been an instructor with Foothill College since 2018. I received
                                 my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
                                 and both my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and Ph.D. in Counseling,
                                 Clinical, and School Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I approach the field as a scientist-practitioner, and as such, I divide my professional
                                 time between teaching, research, and clinical practice. I appreciate the applied nature
                                 of the field of psychology and the broad professional opportunities available. I am
                                 also a lifelong learner. I enjoy continued involvement in a variety of professional
                                 activities as well as reading for fun, listening to podcasts, gardening, cooking,
                                 running, golf, and ice hockey. My passion for education spans beyond the instruction and dissemination of knowledge;
                                 I believe that the ultimate goal of education is not the accumulation of facts alone,
                                 but the cultivation of curiosity, an appreciation of learning, and the application
                                 of knowledge and experience to life, one’s community, and various “real-world” circumstances.
                                 My courses are structured for students to think in this manner and I find introducing
                                 students to psychology to be particularly exciting and fulfilling. |
