Biography:

Monica Keane holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UC Davis, where she specialized in medieval Italian, English and French literatures. She also has a Master’s degree in Italian Studies from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Her main area of research is 14th Century Italian vernacular literature, especially the works of Boccaccio and Dante.

Dr. Keane has taught literature and culture courses, composition and Italian language. At Foothill College, she has taught online courses in ancient cultures and the modern world. In her classes, she wants her students to engage with great works of art, literature and philosophy from the past: their beauty, their humor, and their insights into the human condition.
