Machine Learning & Neural Networks Workshop

This workshop is designed to introduce neural networks, the basis of all Artificial Intelligence. Aimed at beginners with little to no experience, we will be explaining what neural networks are, explore their capabilities, and guide you through constructing a basic neural network for yourself.

Presented by: Ayush Madhukar and Ariel Chen

Ariel is a sophomore studying Math. She has been the Co-President of the Data Science & AI Club for 1 out of the 1.5 years she has spent at Foothill College. In her free time, she enjoys practicing recurve archery and learning about AI.

Web 3.0 & Blockchain Workshop

Web3 is revolutionizing the way we work and interact with technology. Unlike the current internet, Web3 is built on decentralized and trustless networks, enabling secure and transparent transactions, data exchange, and communication between users. While many are familiar with Bitcoin, the first blockchain, Ethereum is the second largest and perhaps the most important one for the future of work. It unlocked smart contracts, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and a new universe of possibilities for organizations, jobs, and work. And that’s just the opening of the rabbit hole.

Before diving into the future of the internet, it’s important to understand some of the basics and why this tech is different than what we already know and use. In this introductory workshop, we will cover how Web3 differs from the current Web 2.0, what blockchain is, the purpose of cryptocurrencies, and the importance of a diverse human workforce in building Web3.

What you will learn:

  • What is Web3 is
  • What blockchain is and its importance to Web3
  • The Ethereum blockchain
    • Smart contracts
  • What cryptocurrency is (and isn’t)
    • Purpose of cryptocurrencies and their functions
    • Examples of crypto: native tokens, non-native tokens, stablecoins, and NFTs
  • New potential work opportunities now and in the future in Web3

Prerequisites:

  • None, but it is recommended you watch this short video: What is Web3?

Since his early days of crashing his dad’s computer to electrical engineering courses in college, Matthew has always kept up with the latest technology trends. In late 2021, he began researching and working in Web3 to learn how to make these new work opportunities more equitable and accessible to all.

Matthew is the Founder and Principal of MAP Advising, a consultancy focused on preparing organizations for the future of work. He has most recently worked on projects with ICF, Safal Partners, NPower, 418 Intelligence and Jobs for the Future (JFF) among others.
