NASA Connect

Faculty Advisor: Ellen Judd - juddellen@fhda.edu

Meetings: TBD

We aim to help underserved communities through STEM Education. The primary focus of this club is to provide opportunities for outreach with NASA - related materials. Currently, there is a lunar rover and Cubesat project.

Current Projects: Viper Project: The Viper is a mini-rover robot that can be programmed to do many things. Originally it was used during Space Week to allow underprivileged students in Atlanta to explore how NASA navigated the rough terrain of the moon with their Lunar/Martian rovers. The rover can be coded from the ground up, and we'd like for students to come up with a project using this fantastic piece of technology, and present their projects to various CCs and Universities like Santa Clara University and so on.

CubeSat: The CubeSat is a small satellite of about 10cm x 10cm x 10cm with the ability to carefully and precisely record information about the weather. The goal is to have two CubeSats, one on the ground, and another attached to a weather balloon to measure the differences between the ground and up above. We'll need more students to not only code part of the cubesat, but also launch it at various other locations to collect data and present it to more universities!
