Earn PGA/PAA Credits

There are on-going, year-round Campus Service opportunities (PAA only for faculty and PGA for classified staff).

Planning committees recruit and start meeting in Summer Session and Fall Quarter and meet weekly for an average of 6 months to year-round. Each month has a planning committee made up of students, faculty, staff and administrators who organize exciting events for the education, empowerment, enjoyment and entertainment of the campus and community.

Mentor a student or group at the Research & Service Leadership Symposium

Staff and faculty can earn PGA/PAA credit for mentoring a student or group of students at the Research & Service Leadership Symposium.

Staff Mentors

Earn hourly credit. Download the PGA Committee Form and track your hours as a mentor.

Faculty Mentors

Faculty can track the hours they spend as an RSLS mentor and earn up to 18 hours of credit (1 unit of PGA) using this Smartsheet form.

Within 30 days of the conclusion of the symposium each year, you can access your certificate in the Vision Resource Center (via MyPortal). Contact Carolyn Holcroft for help accessing your certificate.

Both staff and faculty can contact Allison Herman at hermanallison@fhda.edu or Mike McCusker at mccuskermichael@fhda.edu for questions.

Plan and attend Heritage Month events

Students need your help! Employees are needed on student-led Heritage Month Planning Committees to plan a whole month of events!

Cultural celebrations occur at Foothill from October through June.

  • October is LATINX HERITAGE Month
  • November is NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE Month
  • January is JEWISH HERITAGE Month
  • February is BLACK HISTORY Month
  • March is WOMEN'S HISTORY Month
  • April is MUSLIM HERITAGE Month
  • May is ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER Month
  • June is LGBT HERITAGE Month

Faculty/staff can earn PAA/PGA credit for planning and attending the Heritage Month events.

The Student Activities Office assists with the logistics of budgeting, planning, marketing and hosting for each month. From academic achievement celebrations, art exhibits, concerts, debates, locally- and internationally- known guest speakers, literature events, luncheons, talent show/open-mics, theater performances and workshops, you'll have fun as you learn about diverse cultures! Sponsored by ASFC, the OwlCard Student ID and the Office of Student Activities.

Become a club advisor

Club Advisors are required for a Club to exist. Club Advisors sign up committing to be present at official club meetings, events and to sign on the account. Most Clubs meet weekly, not during Summer. Foothill typically has 50 per quarter that include Academic, Athletic, Departmental, Political, Recreational, Religious, Social and Special Interest.

To get involved, please contact Victoria Strelnikova at strelnikovavictori@fhda.edu.
