Umoja Community

Eligibility Requirements

  1. First-time college student OR have not yet completed ENGL 1A and college level Math
  2. Academic goal to transfer to four-year university, Earn a Degree or Certificate, or complete a Workforce program
  3. Complete and submit  the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov or California Dream Act application for the 24-25 academic year.

 

Application Process

  1. Submit the Umoja Program Interest Form
  2. Meet with Umoja counselor Dokesha Meacham. She will email you upon receipt of the interest form.  You can also schedule an appointment at meachamdokesha@fhda.edu.
  3. Complete the Student Contract Form

Program Requirements

  1. Attend the 3-day, in-person 2024 Umoja Orientation on Tuesday, Wedneday and Thursday, Sept. 10–12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
  2. Attend Umoja classes Tuesday, Wednesday, &  Thursday from 10am to 1pm on campus
  3. Meet with Umoja counselor at least 2 times per quarter
  4. Attend at least 3 Umoja events per quarter
  5. Complete the designated Umoja courses
  6. Maintain a minimum C average in all college courses
