The Off-Hour Assignment includes both evening and weekend shifts and will commence during the winter or spring quarter of the second year.

Each student selects four eight-hour shifts in any of the following combinations:

Q. How far away from Foothill College are the clinical sites to which students may be assigned?

The Radiologic Technology Program is affiliated with fifteen hospitals and clinics in the Bay area. Four clinical sites are located 42 miles North of Foothill College in San Francisco. One site is located in the city of San Carlos.  Two sites are located in the city of Palo Alto. Three clinical sites are located in close proximity to the Foothill Campus in nearby Mountain View and Sunnyvale. One affiliate is located in Fremont.  Three affiliates are located in San Jose/Los Gatos with the Program's southern most clinical site located 59 miles South of Foothill College in Hollister.

Q. What is meant by a "full-time" program?

A full-time program for radiology means that the student will be in the classroom or hospital five days a week. The emphasis in the first year of the program is on classroom work with the students in classes three days a week and in the hospital for two days a week. In the summer after the first year the emphasis shifts to the hospital with the student in the classroom only one day a week and the hospital four days.

Q. With what clinical sites is the program affiliated?

Q. Is it better to have the general education requirements completed before entering the program?

The scheduling for the program allows for students to complete general education requirements in the afternoons and evenings. However, due to the rigorous nature of the program, it is strongly recommended that applicants complete General Education courses required for the Associate of Science degree before the start of the program.
