About the Program
Spend the week volunteering in the mountainous villages of Vuelta Grande and El Hato, where you'll support school sites and experience what daily life is like in rural Guatemala.
Free time and evenings are spent in the colonial tourist town of Antigua. Volunteer work on this trip may include school beautification work in Vuelta Grande, as well as tutoring and helping in the classroom at a secondary school in Antigua.

Join an Active Archaeological Research Project and Earn College Credit!
The Foothill Anthropology Department invites students and volunteer adult community members of all ages and experience levels to join our active archaeological research projects during the summer months. In Summer 2022 we ran two projects, our 6th year of our Castles in Communities Project at Ballintober Castle in County Roscommon, Ireland, and our first year of our Hawai'i Indigenous Archaeology Field School on the Big Island of Hawaii.
We are still finalizing our Summer 2023 plans, but expect to invite students back to Ireland, Hawai'i and even possibly a return to Ecuador, with our longest running field school on the Pambamarca Archaeology Project
For more information about all of our field programs, visit the Foothill Anthropology Department website.
