When and where is the commencement ceremony?
The ceremony is Friday, June 27, at 10am. in the Library Quad at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. The quad is located in the center of the campus.
How can I make sure my name is printed in the commencement program?
Meet with your counselor and submit a Petition to Graduate Form by 3 p.m. on Friday, May 9 to have your name printed in the program.
How do I order my regalia?
You may order it at the bookstore website beginning in May.
Deadline to order cap and gown:
- Order by Friday, June 6 to receive by mail
- Any orders received after June 6 will need to be picked up on campus by Friday, June 27.
Graduaton accessories will be available for purchase at the on-campus Foothill Bookstore starting TBD.
RSVP for Commencement
The last day to RSVP for Commencement is Friday, June 6, 2025. If you miss the deadline please, email our graduation team at foothillgraduation@foothill.edu.edu.
If I don't petition to graduate, can I still participate in the commencement ceremony?
Students who have only a few classes left to complete before their summer/fall degree
is granted—and plan to petition to graduate then—can participate in the Commencement Ceremony scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025
at 10 a.m. or the following year's ceremony.
May I bring guests to the in-person commencement ceremony?
Yes! You may invite as many guests as you'd like to share your special day with you. There is no maximum number of guests. However, please note, seats are limited. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. No tickets required.
Honors Cords
Do you have a 3.5+ GPA? Then stop by the Foothill bookstore and show a copy of your unofficial transcript to receive your honor cord.
High Honors are awarded to those with a grade-point average of 3.5 or above in all community college work.
Getting Ready: Graduating Students
Graduating Students:
All graduates must wear Foothill College regalia(cap and gown) to participate in the ceremony. Graduates should arrive by 8:30 AM and check in at the Smithwick Theater Plaza.
Please note:
- Travel light—no storage will be available for personal items. Small purses are ok and should be kept under regalia.
- Comfortable shoes are recommended.
- After check-in, students will line up in the Smithwick Theater by division of major.
- You will receive a reader card at check-in. Be sure to fill it out and keep it with you at all times. This card will be handed to the Dean during the ceremony so your name can be read aloud.
- A Commencement Marshal will guide you from the Smithwick Theater to the Library Quad and help direct you through the processional and diploma platform steps.
GradImages will be on-site taking professional photos during the procession. Photo purchase information will be shared after the event.
Parking
Parking is free on Commencement Day, and all campus lots will be open to graduates and guests. However, the closest lots to the ceremony site are Lot 1, Lot 2A, and Lot 5. Staff and signage will help direct you to available spaces.
- Lot 1: Closest to the event but includes many stairs, which may be difficult for guests with mobility needs.
- Lot 2A: Also offers accessible parking, but no shuttle service will be provided from this lot.
- Lot 5: Accessible parking. A free shuttle service to the ceremony site will be available from Lot 5 to those with mobility needs; no reservation needed.
Please plan your arrival and parking based on your mobility and accessibility needs.

Venue Rules and Guidelines
To ensure a joyful, safe, and respectful ceremony for all graduates and guests, please follow these important guidelines:
Prohibited Items & Behavior:
- Balloons are not allowed – they block the view of other guests.
- Confetti, beach balls are prohibited.
- Alcohol, drugs, and smoking/vaping are strictly prohibited on campus.
- Obscene, offensive, or disruptive behavior will result in removal from the event.
What You Can Bring:
- Guests should bring their own water bottles – It’s typically hot, so stay hydrated!
- Leis, flowers, and small congratulatory gifts – keep them respectful and unobtrusive.
Photos & Seating:
- Personal photos are welcome, but guests must stay in designated areas.
- Professional photos will be taken of all graduates by GradImages during the ceremony.
- Please do not stand or block aisles to take photos.
